Driving a Subaru Impreza WRX STi, they finished 42 seconds ahead of the Toyota Corolla S2000 of Harry Bates – son of former multiple champion Neal Bates – and John McCarthy.

Third came Justin Dowel and Toni Feaver in their Hyundai i20 Proto, with Molly Taylor and Bill Hayes fourth in another Subaru WRX.

The Perth pair of Brad Markovic and Glenn Macneall had a lucky escape when their Maximum Motorsport Subaru suddenly erupted in flames on one of the special stages and was destroyed.

Markovic had some facial burns and Macneall escaped unharmed.

Mechanical failure also stopped the run of Mark Pedder and Dale Moscatt on the third-last stage of the event. A broken tie rod on their Peugeot 208 Maxi stopped them from an almost certain podium place.
