Women’s football: Mundella Foods gets naming rights to league after sponsorship deal

Dairy producer Mundella Foods will have naming rights of the WA Women’s Football League and support initiatives linked to the WA Football Commission’s female talent pathway, female ambassador program, WA women’s round and female participation programs.

WAFC chief executive Gavin Taylor said it was great to have a WA company support female football as it entered an exciting year.

“The growth of female football over the past few years has been remarkable and we expect this to continue with the arrival of the AFL Women’s competition this year.”

There was a 61.3 per cent increase in the number of female players in WA club football last year and the number of club-based teams almost doubled from 84 to 157.

“It’s really important that we can continue to support the growth in female participation and that WA football offers positive, welcoming environments while also providing opportunities for players to aspire to the elite level,” Mr Taylor said.

WAWFL president Carolyn Hills said the sponsorship was ideal timing, with the league celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

“It all makes for a very exciting season ahead,” she said.
