WOMEN’S football will be the curtain-raiser to this Saturday’s Western Derby.
Teams representing West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers will clash as part of this year’s AFL Female Exhibition Match Series.
The Eagles will be led by coach Martine Pearman and captain Kara Donnellan, while Renee Forth will captain the Fremantle side under coach Patrick Litherland.
The 10-game women’s series will be played across three rounds with matches also scheduled for Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane.
State Academy players will feature in round one teams, while round two will feature the best players from around the country in state representative matches with a WA team set to play the Western Bulldogs at Melbourne’s Docklands on June 5.
Three games of the series, including the West Coast Eagles-Fremantle derby, will be televised on Fox Sports and be live on afl.com.au.
The Eagles-Dockers clash will be broadcast on Saturday at 3.05pm.
