Bower, now a member of the Benara Bowmen Archery Club, had been preparing for the State Indoor Championships in Warwick last weekend, which he was both nervous and excited for.

He will also compete in the 2017 National Championships at Whitman Park in November. It follows a bronze medal for clout at April’s National Youth Archery Championships and a trophy for third place in the Sorrento Tournament’s novice division in May.

“I’m always proud when I do well at a competition,” Bower said.

Bower has been nominated for the Junior Individual category in the Community Newspaper Group’s Local Sports Star Awards.
