HELEN O'Grady Drama Academy is inviting past and present students to help celebrate its 35th anniversary this Sunday.

The academy, which operates in more than 50 suburbs around Perth, will host a day of games and activities, with all proceeds donated to The Smith Family charity.

Founder Helen O’Grady said when she started the drama classes in 1979, her goal was to increase the confidence, self-esteem and communication skills of children.

‘Much has changed over 35 years, but one thing hasn’t: parents everywhere want to ensure that their children will be active participants in life and are able to make a difference in this world in whatever they choose to do,’ she said.

‘So many of our past students have gone on to feel empowered and to experience success in the choices they make in their life journey.

‘A delightful result of this is that these past students now enrol their own children so that they can also benefit from developing life skills from the drama program.’

The celebration will be held 1-3pm on November 9 at South Perth Community Hall.
