AN Alexander Heights restaurant has been recognised for having Australia’s best mee goreng.

The bi-annual Menulog Restaurant Awards are open to all restaurants and takeaways on the online platform and are selected based on popularity, rating and customer satisfaction.

In the 2018 summer edition, Putong Thai won for its “stir fried mee goreng noodles with veggies, meat, seafood and a special Thai sauce”.

Owner Teera Wongkanha put the win down to using all fresh ingredients.

“Some of the customers come all the way from Mandurah to try this dish,” he said.

He said they were “very happy and honoured” to win the award.

“We also want to thank our valued customers for supporting us; they have helped us to receive this recognition,” he said.

As well as the cuisine category awards, Menulog also recognised an overall winner in each state, with Forrestfield Chinese BBQ Restaurant taking out the award for the most popular Menulog restaurant in WA.

The restaurant’s signature dishes were popular among regulars customers, including its wok fried barbecue roast pork, crispy skin chicken and roast duck.

Menulog commercial director Rory Murphy said with more than 10,000 restaurants across Australia and New Zealand using the online platform, taking out a title in the Restaurant Awards was a “huge accomplishment”.

The awards will kick off again this winter, with the next season’s winning restaurants to be announced in July.
