Auction just what the chaplain ordered

Staff ReporterWanneroo Times

The association has raised $22,000 in five years for chaplains in City of Wanneroo schools.

YouthCare area chaplain Liesl Mahood said money raised would help provide chaplains for schools expected to open in Pearsall and Banksia Grove next year.

‘Funds raised at the WBA dinner and quiz night last year went to Wanneroo Primary School, making it possible to have the chaplain in the school for an extra half day a week,’ she said.

‘Every extra hour in addition to the two days of Federal funding is irreplaceable, giving the chaplains more time to spend serving their school communities and the wider community.

‘With the City of Wanneroo growing rapidly, more government schools have opened up in the area wanting chaplaincy services.

‘The support of organisations like the WBA and city councils have opened up doors for schools like Butler Senior High School to have a chaplain and increase services in local schools.’

Celebrity auctioneer Peter G Holmes will run the auction.

The auction-dinner will be held at Bridgeleigh Reception Centre on Friday, June 27, at 6.30pm.
