Donny McDermid, Tyson Stolarski and Dylan McEvoy came up with the concept when they visited a local bar for happy hour and asked themselves why it was so difficult to find timely bargains close to home.

Since its launch last month, the free app has had great success with more than 30,000 page views.

‘We got to the top three in the Apple App Store’s food and drink category last weekend so that was pretty amazing and put us up there with Coles and Woolworths, and ahead of |Urbanspoon,’ business director Donny |McDermid said. Due to its spike in popularity, the trio uploaded an additional 50 deals to Cheersy last week and hope to develop the app to offer deals nationwide.

‘What we’re doing now is making a self-manage system for venues to put on a deal themselves, and that’s going to open up huge possibilities,’ he said.
