BUYING a wedding dress was not an enjoyable experience for Jacqui Dunn, which is why she wants to deliver the best service to brides-to-be at her Joondalup store.

The Tapping resident opened English Rose Bridal late last year, offering affordable bridal dresses and accessories.

Mrs Dunn said she used to be a plus size and buying her wedding dress was not the joyous occasion it should have been.

“I bought the first dress that fit me because there was no choice,” she said.

“I don’t want anyone else to experience that.

“I want every bride to be able to walk in and try at least one dress on.”

She said it was like an outlet store, with about 250 off the rack bridal dresses available, though from January she would carry an in-season line for sizes four to 30 that could be re-ordered.

“I saw that there was a market for a bridal store catering for people who are potentially shopping on a tighter budget,” she said.

It has been a labour of love, with Mrs Dunn designing the store layout and her carpenter husband building the interior, and though it was a “massive challenge”, she was very proud of the result.
