The Woodvale resident said she travelled around Australia, then lived in a ski town in Canada for two years, mostly doing odd jobs until she asked a photographer if she could go along with her to see how she worked.
‘This turned into full-time assistant work with her, shooting weddings, families and portraits mainly,’ Ms O’Flanagan said.
‘It was such a life-changer ” I found my passion and have decided to turn it into my own business.
‘I have a friend who is an amazing makeup artist, so we have been doing some portraits together with a makeover and a photo shoot.’
Ms O’Flanagan said the recruitment company she worked for had given her Fridays off so she could set up her own business, Sarah O’Flanagan Photography.
She said so far most of her business had come through word-of-mouth, particularly portrait shoots with children and families.
‘I have a few events coming up and have even booked a wedding next year in England,’ the photographer said.
