A FAMILY-RUN Madeley bakery has won an armful of accolades at the Perth Royal Bread and Pastry Show.

Bakers Delight Kingsway took home 12 awards from the show, including the Tony Noonan Memorial Champion Loaf for its Vienna loaf.

Owners Deborah and Kim House have been running the bakery for 13 years and are helped by their children, with sons Kurt and Blake baking and daughter Brooke working front of house.

Mrs House said it was only their second year entering the competition.

“We were absolutely chuffed, surprised and excited that we won the Champion Loaf,” she said.

“The baking staff are mainly family members and as my son Kurt likes to say, it’s the love we put into our product that makes the difference.

“They just really do take pride and care in our products.”

Mr and Mrs House also own Bakers Delight Ellenbrook, which won 11 awards at the show.

Other local winners were Ming’s Bakery in Woodvale, which won a silver medal for its sausage rolls and bronze for its beef pie, and Wangara’s Wholefood Bakery, which picked up bronze medals for their sausage rolls, pasties and beef pies.
