Although she had no previous photography experience, Ms Newman found she had a natural talent for it and has been running Tiny Feet Photography for three years.

‘I love what I do, it’s great doing something I’m passionate about; I wake up and look forward to going to work,’ Ms Newman said.

She said she could offer lower prices than other businesses because she doesn’t have a studio and therefore no overheads, doesn’t employ staff and provides parents with a disk of digital images from the shoot instead of prints.

Ms Newman has been nominated for the third time for a 2014 What’s On 4 Junior award in the category of best children’s party provider, with the winners announced in Brisbane on June 20.

‘To have my work recognised by others (as a finalist) would be a huge achievement, especially as I started not that long ago and did it to help other parents.’

Ms Newman said cake smashes are one of the most popular package choices for parents.

‘It captures a moment in their life as most babies won’t have had cake before,’ she said.

‘I also love to do maternity shots, just before they’ve welcomed their little joy.’
