New venues raising the bar: Hotel and Hospitality Awards

TWO new venues are among those shortlisted for this year’s WA Hotel and Hospitality Awards for Excellence.

The Ashby Bar and Bistro is a finalist in seven categories of the awards, run by the Australian Hotels Association WA.

These include for presentation and service, new venue, outdoor area, outstanding commitment to workforce development practices, casual pub dining and employee Leah Bullivant is up for the cocktail bartender award.

The Duke Bar and Bistro in Carramar, which also opened this year, will vie for the new venue award and Lee Behan is a finalist for best venue manager.

Other finalists include Greenwood Hotel, The Carine, The Breakwater in Hillarys and White Salt in Sorrento.

Danielle van Coevorden, of Greenwood Hotel, and Mark Twomey, from The Breakwater, in Hillarys are up for the head chef award and The Carine’s Aaron Nuske for venue manager.
