Speaking at the October 21 Wanneroo Business Association breakfast, Mr Francis said the City of Wanneroo had become “a dynamic and thriving area”.
“Wanneroo is unique in the small business world – just in this local government area, there are 1600 small businesses registered, representing 98 per cent of all businesses registered,” he said.
“If there’s a small business centric economy anywhere in the metro area, it’s certainly in Wanneroo.

READ NOW“Industries that feature prominently with the greatest number of small businesses include construction (398), rental, hiring and real estate services (115), transport, postal and warehousing (101), professional, scientific and technical services (99) and financial and insurance services.”
Mr Francis said there would be significant population growth in Wanneroo, and the role small businesses played in economic wellbeing was important.
“It’s a wealth of opportunity for you guys to reach onto into the future,” he said.
“The region has several significant commercial and industrial areas. Collectively, these areas form a manufacturing hub within the north metropolitan area.”
Mr Francis said the State Government had set up a business station in the region through its Business Local service.
The WBA board gave a $2500 cheque to YouthCare at the breakfast, raised at its annual fundraising dinner, and signed a sponsorship deal with Edith Cowan University.
