Wanneroo Business Awards highlight milestone year

A MAGIC show, acupuncture and accolades for the best local businesses were part of a milestone celebration for Wanneroo Business Association.

The 2019 City of Wanneroo Business Awards on November 15 celebrated the association’s 20th anniversary as well as acknowledging business achievements across the region at the 17th annual event.

About 180 people gathered at The Block in Merriwa, with entertainment by DJ Vixon welcoming guests during the Radiant Chi pre-dinner drinks that also showcased techniques used in Chinese medicine and acupuncture.

There was also a live three-piece band, a surprise magic show by Jon Fox from Global Magic Shop, a three-course dinner served by Creative Catering, and the Burning Fruit live social media wall.

There were more than 100 finalists for 13 award categories, with winners and runners-up announced on the night by Nova 93.7’s Ross Wallman.

Wangara-based PUMPNSEAL was crowned 2019 business of the year and best business with 15 and over employees for reaching 20 years in business.

Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts named Show West owner Jennie Pell the Mayor’s visionary business person for her contribution to business and community.

Complete Home Filtration won the start up of the year and innovator of the year awards.

Mindarie Workshop and Auto Electrical won the customer service excellence award as well as being named the best business with five to 15 employees, while its workshop foreman David Fitzgerald won employee of the year.

Appliance Parts Solutions won the trades excellence award and CK Maloney Surveying were rewarded for showing online and digital excellence.

Little Monkey Sports took home the trophy for the best business with up to five employees, and Jindalee-based Tenco Engineers won best home-based business.

The Marina, Mindarie was given the title of tourism and hospitality business of the year, which follows a string of recent awards for the venue.

WBA business liaison officer Lauren Bell said that entries to the awards had increased more than 30 per cent from last year.

“We are proud to delivery another sell-out event, celebrating the local talent, dedication and passion shown by our local businesses,” she said.

President Dinesh Aggarwal said the WBA board and staff were proud to bring acknowledgment to local businesses for their hard work, wishing them continued success.
