Girrawheen resident in Phoenix Theatre fairytale twist Puss in Thongs

Tyler BrownWanneroo Times

Written by Judith Prior and directed by Sheryl Gale at Phoenix Theatre, Puss in Thongs is a pantomime for the whole family that follows the adventures of Puss and Harry as they set out to find wealth and romance.

Before they head off, Puss asks Harry to buy her some boots and a grand hat but they have only $5 and compromise to buy thongs instead.

Along the way, they encounter a bunyip, witch and dancing camel, encouraging audience participation to draw them into the adventure.

Ward plays the fairytale princess. “She seems to be quite a young princess who is highly impressionable and easily swooned by Harry’s good looks and charm,” she said.

“There’s loads of action and we break the fourth wall to open up the theatre for audience participation, which is always fun.

“With Puss in Thongs, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be involved in such an over-the-top, wildly exaggerated production, which offers up comedy gold.”

The production is supporting the Cat Havens.
