Lake Joondalup Baptist College Year 12 student Heidi Carstens had neither when she snapped Hidden Beauty, `the top rated image entered into the City of Joondalup’s From Bush to Beach photography competition.
‘I was down at Burns Beach with a friend when I saw the shell and took a photo with my iPhone,’ she said.
‘When I got home and enhanced the colour a little bit and looked at it on the computer I thought ‘wow, I can’t believe I took that’,’ she said.
Judges praised the composition, colour saturation and creativity of Heidi’s photo.
She plans to save the $250 prize money.
Heidi’s photo was selected ahead of 78 other entries.
The competition, held to celebrate World Environment Day on June 5, was open to 12 to 18-year-olds who had taken a photo of a natural area within the City of Joondalup.
