HILLARYS resident Ernst Schneider recently won the sculpture award in the York Art and Craft Awards.

Judges said his Scarface sculpture demonstrated how to use, rather than discard, unloved materials.

Duncraig artist Alexandra Seymour won the jewellery award for her Tangled Light entry, which judges said showed skill in rendering and the “shapes and colours dance with delight”.

Mullaloo’s Lyn Franke won the works in fibre prize for her Wildflower Lustre piece made using different coloured fabrics and stitching, including gold thread.
