Always living close to the ocean, its movement and colour fascinated.

Over the years, ceramic artist Val translated what she saw firstly to pots and platters and then, as a natural progression, to pastels on paper.

Land and seascapes became her passion and in 2006, she turned to oils.

Examples of her work ” a pastel of an Italian cafe from a visit last year and two oils of Rottnest Island ” will be on show in Sorrento this weekend.

Val will exhibit at the Wanneroo-Joondalup Art Society’s exhibition-sale at Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club from Saturday to Monday, May 25 to 27.

The award-winning artist is also donating the raffle prize.

The show is open on Saturday and Sunday, 9am-5pm, and Monday, 10am-4pm. Opening night is tomorrow, Friday, May 24, 7pm.

Refreshments are available from the club’s So Cafe.
