For the past five years, Thompson has played to more than 25,000 Australian Cash fans. Earlier last year, he started In Solitary " a different show to his Johnny Cash " The Concert shows.

It focuses on a darker side of Cash, featuring songs spanning his entire career.

"It tells the story of who Johnny Cash was, who he became and why his legend has grown since his death at age 72 in 2003," Thompson said.

Singer, songwriter, long-time friend and collaborator Mike Carr will join Thompson on stage on piano, guitar and vocals.

Thompson's shows have been described as faithful and respectful tributes to Cash and his music.
