Talented Ivy’s skills blossom for art society show

The long-time Wanneroo-Joondalup Art Society member particularly enjoys pencil drawing and using watercolour pencils and watercolours.

Flowers, and ‘quirky’ drawings in the cartoon style are particular favourites ” she is a great admirer of illustrator Don Lindsay.

‘It’s been an on and off thing,’ she said of her art.

‘Living in Lake Grace I produced quirky posters for the local drama group.

‘A few years ago, family members started a coffee shop in the town and asked for some of my paintings to sell and I sold quite a few.

‘When we moved to Perth I took up part-time work and joined Wanneroo Art Society.’

These days, she is ‘pleasantly busy’ with art, membership of the Wandoo Singers group, which sings at local nursing homes, and gardening.

Ivy is the featured artist at the art society’s biannual show at Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club this Saturday and Sunday, September 14 and 15, 9am to 5pm.

She has also painted the raffle prize.

Opening night is tomorrow, Friday, September 13, at 7pm.

Refreshments are available from the club’s cafe.
