FUNKY Junk Art is running arts and crafts workshops using discarded household items and clean recycled items to create small art sculptures.
Owner Sandi Rivers said she selected and sourced interesting materials that were “clean, safe and offer variety and interest in shape or texture”.
“Children can select items from tubs containing metal, plastic, fabric or wood items and use them as they wish,” she said.
“These classes encourage development of fine motor and problem solving skills and offer tactile exploration for two hours of open ended play.
“The adaptability of the loose parts means limitless opportunities for innovation and creativity.
The school term program starts on July 18 and runs for 10 weeks, with four recycling junk classes.
The activities in the program include paper-people-making, mask painting, playdough, Plasticine and Lego sessions and an introduction to Zentangle drawing and art collages.
Classes are held each Monday from 4.30pm-5.30pm and costs $150 for the term.
Located in Tapping, the workshops are open to boys and girls aged seven and older.
