1000 free burritos given away at opening of Wanneroo Zambrero

Lauren PilatWanneroo Times

MORE than 30 local youth are helping fight world hunger after gaining employment at the newly opened Zambrero drive-thru store in Wanneroo.

It’s the second store for franchise owners Trudy and Gordon Logan who celebrated the opening by giving away 1000 free burritos to hungry Mexican food lovers.

The husband-wife team became franchisees in support of the company’s Plate4Plate initiative where every burrito or bowl sold sees a meal donated to someone in need.

Mrs Logan said the humanitarian aspect gave them the drive to open their second store on Wanneroo Road after opening the Kingsway branch in November, 2016.

“Plate4Plate is what sets Zambrero apart from other quick service restaurants,” she said.

“Everyone who eats our product is actually working to fight world hunger; it’s awesome.

“We also have children of our own who help us out and we wanted to help other kids from the area with jobs while they are at uni and studying.”

Zambrero has donated almost 20 million meals to people in need worldwide.
