Access concerns in estate plan

The structure plan proposal lapsed last month after councillors expressed concern that one road in and out of the area could hinder emergency access.

A modified council report said the Department of Fire and Emergency Services and Main Roads WA were not satisfied with emergency access to the area and suggested a second access route.

City staff said that as the information contained in a bushfire management plan (BMP) was not satisfactory, the plan should be excluded from the structure plan and modified before subdivision of the site.

‘This will allow the applicants the time necessary to address all concerns raised by administration, MRWA (and) DFES,’ the report said.

‘The applicant has been made aware of the fact that until the BMP is considered satisfactory’
