Lucy JarvisWanneroo Times

DEVELOPER Peet Ltd has applied for a clearing permit to create a bushfire protection zone around an Alkimos subdivision.

The Shorehaven estate developer applied to clear 6750sq m of native vegetation on its northern border, with the trees located on part of 19 Taronga Place, Eglinton.

The application said the bushfire asset protection zone was needed for a residential subdivision north of McGiffen Avenue, which would include 1.18ha of public open space.

The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation has invited public comment on the application, and is due to make a decision on December 10.
