Senior Sergeant Brad Burnett said the victim was at home with his wife about 2.10pm on February 1 when the man (35) demanded entry to the property.
He alleged the man bashed down the door with a sledgehammer when he was refused.
He allegedly threatened the victim before police arrived and detained him.
