Area 5 Football: new soccer facility opens in Wanneroo

A NEW soccer facility hopes to bring benefits to the local community and neighbouring Wanneroo Sports and Social Club.

Area 5 Football has opened its third Perth venue at the club on Crisafulli Avenue, comprising fully fenced, outdoor synthetic grass fields for five-a-side soccer.

Co-director Bryan Raeburn said Wanneroo was the ideal location for the facility.

“There’s a large football fraternity up this way,” he said.

“This is a new concept for the northern suburbs, which we will see grow due to the demographic of the area.

“It’s the only thing of its kind in the region.”

There are currently 16 teams signed up and he expects that will expand to more than 30.

Mr Raeburn said the focus was on social competition and they aimed to help boost the sports club by encouraging players to join.

“It’s an opportunity to get together with mates, have a kick around outside, get fit and healthy and improve your skills,” he said.

It runs nightly adult leagues and caters to children, with after-school skills programs available.
