A 37-year-old man is receiving treatment in Royal Perth Hospital for slight burns and possible glass in his eye after trying to put out a car deliberately lit in his Koondoola driveway this morning.

DFES crews from Malaga, Wangara and Osborne Park were called to the Koondoola Avenue fire at 3.26am after neighbours reportedly heard a loud bang. Police arrived at 3.39am and reported to St John Ambulance about the man’s burns.

The fire was out by 4.15am, with damage to a Mazda CX9  estimated at $20,000 and heat damage to Hyundai put at $5000.

Police have taped off the driveway this morning and Arson Squad detectives are investigating.
