Member Siobhan Wright said the event would allow the public an opportunity to buy local pieces at a reasonable price and speak with the artists.

‘Some people think that art exhibitions are exclusive and shy away from attending but we want to encourage everyone, young and old, to check us out and encourage them to talk with the artists, and give them the opportunity to purchase local individual pieces at a good price,’ she said.

Mrs Wright said the group was made up of about 30 Wanneroo Joondalup Art Society members who meet on Tuesday mornings to paint together and critique and encourage each other.

‘I have enjoyed being a member of this group for over five years and love the friendly atmosphere our Studio Art Group generates and I thought this might be another way to introduce our art to the public.’

She said in May and September each year, the Society held a large exhibition at the Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club where its 150 members exhibited several pieces of their latest artworks.

‘We thought we might hold this mini-exhibition to whet the public’s appetite and give them an opportunity to look at great work in a friendly, relaxed environment,’ she said.

The sale will be held on March 24 10am-12.30pm, at the centre, corner Warwick Road and Marmion Avenue.
