‘I was fortunate to see him in concert on the HIStory tour which gave me a boost to help me realise what I wanted to do with my life, which was to be a performer,’ he said.

‘Not only do I dance, but I’m also a choreographer and singer, so he had a huge influence on my artistry.’

Moctezuma is now repaying his gratitude to the late King of Pop as one of the lead characters and feature dancers in Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour, which opened in Montreal, October 2011.

He said he liked to describe the production as being a Michael Jackson pop rock concert with Cirque du Soleil elements, where the only thing that was obviously missing was Jackson.

‘It’s a spectacle, must-see show that’s full of eye-candy, glitter, lights and live music pumping through your veins,’ Moctezuma said.

‘Cirque usually has more acrobatic acts but in this specific show it’s more dance because Michael was all about the dance and music, and he was a huge fan of Cirque du Soleil so it made sense for them to combine forces with the MJ estate.’
