Police allege 22-year-old Abbas Al Jarood punched 23-year-old Thomas Keaney in Northbridge, causing him to fall back and hit his head on Aberdeen Street in the early hours of December 17.
Mr Keaney died after spending almost two weeks in Royal Perth Hospital.
Police may upgrade their charge pending a post-mortem.
