POLICE have confirmed the victims of a shooting in Banksia Grove on Tuesday night had links to a bikie gang.

Police were called to a Cassia Link address about 10.30pm after receiving a complaint that shots had been fired.

A 23-year-old from Wanneroo was killed while a 24-year-old man and his 53-year-old father were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police believe they are looking for a lone male shooter.

Major Crime Squad Detective Inspector Mark Fyfe told reporters his unit was working with forensic teams and the gang crime squad to find that person.

“The people involved have gang connections, as to the offender I don’t know what connections there are,” Detective Inspector Fyfe said.

When pressed as to the nature of the gang, he responded: “an OMCG (outlaw motorcycle gang).”

“I’m not commenting on which one at this time.”

The men had been visitors to the home, and the incident took place in the drive way and the street after another party arrived.

Despite the gang connections, Detective Inspector Fyfe said he was not concerned about potential retaliations.

“I do not consider public safety to be at risk at this time and we’re doing everything we can to bring this matter to a conclusion,” he said.

The 24-year-old man received a gunshot wound to his arm and the 53-year-old man was shot in the leg but police were hopeful of interviewing both today.

Detective Inspector Fyfe said the shooting was alarming for those nearby.

“It’s of great concern to us, a man is now deceased as a result of it,” he said.

Police have appealed for anyone with information on the shooting to contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
