Mayor Tracey Roberts said Curnow Group, the contractor doing the coastal protection works on the Quinns Rocks foreshore, handed the park back to the City on July 22, while it continued with sandbag and revegetation works on the beach.

Mrs Roberts said the City started to reinstate the park with fencing and soakwell installation last week.

‘Limestone block edging around the playground area commenced on July 28 and is scheduled for completion by August 1,’ she said.

‘The playground will consist of a double swing and play equipment and will be installed approximately at the location where the playground existed before the storm damage. This equipment is scheduled for installation mid to late August.’

Mrs Roberts said they would start turf and reticulation works on August 4, and expected to reopen the park by the end of next month. ‘All efforts will be made to complete the park reinstatement works sooner than the timelines,’ she said.
