Big state selloff lists derelict school site

Staff ReporterWanneroo Times

The 1.66ha Shaw Road lot in the Wanneroo town centre is one of 20 Perth metropolitan sites to be sold by the State Government to raise revenue.

Wanneroo MLA Paul Miles said the site had been empty since the primary school moved to Church Street several years ago.

‘Unfortunately it’s become a magnet for weeds, broken glass, rubbish and anti-social activities. Talking with locals, I know they’d much rather see new housing development on that site than have it standing idle,’ he said,

Mr Miles said he looked forward to seeing the ‘neglected corner of Wanneroo used to its full potential’.

The State Government is expected to make $250 million from the sales.
