The tavern, part of the already approved Ashby Neighbourhood Centre, will be expanded as part of an amendment to the north-eastern portion of the site.
The amendment was discussed at a Development Assessment Panel meeting on May 30.
In a presentation to the metropolitan north-west panel, Ben Doyle from applicant Planning Solutions said the amendment was to replace four non-retail tenancies with an extended tavern and liquor store, including a drive-through.
‘Additional floor space will comprise an expanded courtyard area for the tavern, an expanded bottle browse area for the liquor store, and back-of-house service areas for the bar and kitchen,’ he said.
He said the proposed amendment was advertised to 204 surrounding landowners with one submission received, an objection from the Department of Education.
