Billycarts will parade in the school grounds at 11.30am before racing through the afternoon for best presented, best war cry and other prizes.

The race is part of the sixth annual spring festival, a community event at the school and adjacent Peridot Oval, Viridan Drive, Banksia Grove, 11am to 4pm.

More than 2500 visitors will enjoy camel/pony rides, a climbing wall, food, stalls, children’s activities, a cricket clinic, youth soccer exhibition match and business expo.

Groups such as Banksia Grove Development, the City of Wanneroo, Wanneroo Lions, Police Crime Prevention Unit, Neighbourhood Watch and the Metropolitan Migrant Resource Centre will have displays.

Entertainers include bands Sunday Driver and Atmosphere, Renegade Line Dancers, school choirs and bands, bagpipes, a jazz ensemble, magicians and clowns.

Joondalup Men’s Shed members will sell handmade toys and raffle tickets to win a big dolls’ house in time for Christmas.

Festival organiser Bill McClelland said proceeds had benefitted almost 40 community groups since 2008.

‘We are always looking for new committee members,’ he said.
