About 90 Zonta members and supporters gathered to assemble 1000 kits for the Birthing Kit Foundation on April 6.
The kits, which include a plastic sheet, soap, gloves and gauze, are bound for such countries as Vietnam, Ethiopia, Kenya, Afghanistan and Papua New Guinea.
Pupils from Churchlands Senior High School, which provided the venue, and Edith Cowan University midwifery students helped assemble kits. Goollelal Primary School deputy principal Kerry Hartmann, whose students raised $314 last year for about 100 kits, was also there.
Zonta Club of Perth Northern Suburbs PR committee member Dawn Newman said about $75 was collected on the day in gold coin donations, funding another 25 kits.
