Blast away the winter blues

Held at The Northshore Tavern in Hillarys, the event will feature 13 acts delivering 10 hours of continuous music, ranging from young talent to stalwarts of the local blues fraternity.

Northern Blues N Roots WA co-founder Derek Cromb said that given the success of the monthly event, they decided to offer locals a whole day of blues.

‘The aim is to have music happening no matter what time you arrive because there will be no breaks between acts and the musicians are a mixture of the veterans of the blues scene and some of the up and coming young talent who have embraced the genre,’ he said.

Major drawcards will be internationally renowned slide guitarist Dave Hole and legendary Perth musician Rick Steele, while other bands on the bill include blues-rock trio Vdelli, Andrew Winton Two, Old Blood, Awesome Wells, On the Level, Chelsea J. Gibson Duo and The Diamond Daves.

‘I take great pride in seeing smiles on people’s faces, brought about by the incredibly talented musicians we have asked to partake in this inaugural Winter Blues Fest,’ Cromb said.

‘Nothing beats seeing people enjoying themselves and knowing that it was your efforts that helped to make that happen.’
