Bond to cover damage to streets and verges

THE City of Wanneroo will introduce a $1000 street and verge bond in 2016 for works needing building or demolition permits.

A City statement said that any work costing more than $5000 would require the applicant to pay the bond, which could then be used to repair damage to roads, footpaths, kerbs and drains during construction.

“Under the scheme, all works that require a building or demolition permit will need a permit from the City before work can start,” it said.

People also have to pay a non-refundable $100 application fee, which is also applicable for works worth less than $5000, although those won’t require a bond payment.
