As the Times’ sister paper, The Weekender, reported in May, the 22-year-old Baldivis resident is alleged to have attacked a 60-year-old cab driver who had demanded she step out of the car at Northshore Tavern about 12.50am on April 21.
Police allege she also caused $2700 damage to a camera, which she is alleged to have smashed when she saw a man filming the incident.
Senior Sergeant Brad Burnett reminded taxi and public transport users to obey the driver if asked to leave the vehicle.
‘If you’re in a bus or in a taxi, drivers do have the right to remove you from the vehicle and use whatever force necessary,’ he said.
Officers charged the woman with serious assault, with a maximum penalty of seven or 10 years jail depending on the circumstances.
