State commissioner Dr Brenda Hamlett said the organisation was established to help girls and women be their best and do good deeds and had been present in almost every WA suburb and town since 1915.
‘We have a year of celebrations and events commencing in June, starting with a gala dinner, and we want to make sure all our former members know what’s happening,’ Dr Hamlett said.
The organisation started with a public meeting in the Perth Town Hall on June 28, 1915, and from there it took off.
‘There are many thousands of women in WA who benefited from being a member and we want to recognise the friendships, skills and community work that took place in the name of Girl Guides,’ she said.
The gala dinner will be held on June 28 at Tompkins on Swan, Ardross. To book, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 9355 4589.
– Duncraig leader Felicity Spiller said the fundraising biscuits had also arrived for the year.
