Tapping student Sandra Lebib (17) was a delegate at the National Schools Constitutional Convention in Canberra.

The Year 12 Mater Dei College student was one of 120 chosen from around the country to attend the National Schools Constitutional Convention.

Sandra said it was an honour to be among the delegates who explored whether education should follow a State or Federal system.

“Being in Year 12, it was interesting to compare other people’s experiences,” she said.

“We thought Federal would be more beneficial because there would be more resources and finances spread out more evenly.

“It was interesting to see all the different perspectives.”

Sandra said the House of Representatives question time was more lively than expected and she found the trip a “really big privilege”.

“I don’t believe I will ever get that chance in my life again,” she said.

“Before I didn’t have the same perspective on politics; now I’m interested and want to pursue it.”
