Patient Lavinia Jeffries celebrated her 100th birthday while in the maternity ward baby Fraser Steicke entered the world.

Mrs Jeffries, who received flowers from staff and a card from the Queen, was born in 1913 in Marvel Loch, a small mining town south of Southern Cross.

She was thrilled to meet baby Fraser, born to Innaloo couple Debra and Chris.

Hospital chief executive Dani Meinema said it was ‘magical’ for the hospital to care for patients at each end of the life spectrum.
