Centre gives palm trees the chop

They were removed because their roots were lifting the floor tiles, which posed a safety issue for customers.

Centre manager Gemma Hannigan said kiosks in The Great Space would be realigned to improve traffic flow.

"These plans are all part of the upgrade works to bring the centre in line with the newly developed section," she said.

Signage will also be upgraded to be in line with the new touch screen digital directories in the newly developed section.

Ms Hannigan said the palms were not in a condition to be replanted.
