Charges for alleged drunk driver in fatal crash

AN alleged drunk driver has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death after a 27-year-old woman was killed in a Landsdale car crash last Friday.

Police allege the white Nissan Pulsar the man (35) was driving collided head on with the woman’s white Hyundai Excel near Southmead Drive about 6.30pm on January 8.

The woman later died in Royal Perth Hospital, while her two children, who were passengers in the car, survived the crash.

On Sunday, officers charged the man with driving with a blood alcohol content in excess of 0.08 as well as the dangerous driving charge.

He is due to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on January 25.

In light of the tragedy, Landsdale Residents Association president Domenic Zappa said the next association meeting at Warradale clubrooms on February 17 would focus on road safety.

“The association will be extending an invitation to our local police team and the Commissioner to speak to us about safety on our roads at this meeting,” he said.

Major Crash investigators are still seeking witnesses and would like to speak with anyone who may have seen the crash or the vehicles prior to it.
