TWO teenage choristers are packing their bags to perform for New Zealand audiences.

Bowanne Chrisp (16), of Alexander Heights, and Landsdale’s Heather Bongiovanni (14) have been selected for the Australian Girls Choir’s annual international tour.

They join 54 other Australian girls for the two-week journey starting on June 24 to Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington, which will include 12 performances, an intensive dance workshop and sightseeing.

Heather said she joined the choir’s Perth group in primary school because she had always enjoyed singing, and auditioned for the tour earlier this year.

“I thought it was going to be a really cool experience,” she said.

“I’ve never been to New Zealand before so I’m very excited.

“I just love singing and dancing and getting to do that in front of an audience.”

Bowanne was part of the choir’s Australian tour last year and said it would be a lot of hard work preparing for performances.

“I feel like it pays off and it’s worth the work,” she said.

“I find it nervous and exciting at the same time.”

She said there was great friendship in the choir.

“You have a family away from your family.”
