Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts and Deputy Mayor Dot Newton, The Salvation Army and leaders from several City of Wanneroo churches met last Thursday to discuss preparation of the lunch.

Michelle Pearse, from Kingdomcity, said the Christmas Day event, at the Margaret Cockman Pavilion, was an opportunity for not only those who were less fortunate, but for those who may be separated from family during the festive season.

‘It acknowledges all those people who may be isolated in the community without the stigma, people who have just moved here, and even those with young children, to provide a place of community, to feel a part of something,’ she said.

The event, funded by donations and volunteer time, will cater for about 300 guests.
