The two additions are a result of the success of solar panels already installed at Wanneroo Aquamotion and the Civic Centre.

‘Aquamotion is a high electricity use building and the annual savings have been calculated to be more than $17,800 since the panels were installed in October, 2012,’ Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said.

‘A detailed analysis was carried out on several high energy use buildings within the City and Clarkson Library and Kingsway Indoor Stadium were identified as two sites to benefit.’

The CO2 saving at the new sites is equivalent to removing 20 cars from the road every year.

The council approved $76,070 for the installation of the 24kw roof mounted solar panel systems at the two sites in April.
