City of Wanneroo a hit on Facebook

Mayor Tracey Roberts said the City’s page was ‘very much designed for community use, with not-for-profit groups especially welcome to advertise their events, fundraisers or to seek new members’.

‘As well as using the page for emergency information and regular updates on City activities, Facebook is also a very useful tool for identifying issues that concern the community,’ she said.

‘Facebook is not used to reply to detailed customer requests but can be a very handy first point of contact. The City envisages it becoming more of a customer service tool as it develops.’

Mrs Roberts said separate Facebook pages were sometimes created for events.

‘These have been highly successful as shown by the use of Facebook to publicise free tickets for the Hoodoo Gurus concert,’ she said.
