City of Wanneroo council votes to join Waterwise Council Program

Laura PondWanneroo Times

THE City of Wanneroo is aiming to improve its water usage by joining a State Government program.

Councillors voted at the August meeting to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Water Corporation to participate in the Waterwise Council Program, run by the corporation and Department of Water and Environmental Regulation.

The City is already progressing many requirements of the program and to be eligible, will also need to review its water consumption, create a water efficiency action plan, set goals to improve efficiency and ensure relevant staff complete Waterwise training.

Once endorsed in the program, it will report annually to the Water Corporation to retain its status.
